American pika (Ochotona princeps) calling. Beartooth Mountains, Wyoming/Montana border. Summer. The name Pika comes from the way Siberian Tungus people say the sound of a Pika's call--"peeeka"--an onomatopoeic word. Most americans say "Pieka," but the rest of the world pronounces it "Peeka."
