Prothonotary Warbler (Protonotaria citrea) male in spring with sap on head from hunting for grubs and insects along tree trunks. The only warbler in eastern North America that builds its nest in tree cavities, its breeding range includes much of eastern USA north to extreme southwestern Ontario, Canada, where it has been classified as endangered.
