Northern Flicker or Red-shafted Flicker (Colaptes auratus) feeding on sap (and possibly insects attracted by sap) on side of ponderosa pine. Western U.S., fall. This pine and its leaking sap from woodpecker holes was also attracting Pygmy Nuthatches.
