Red Admiral Butterfly (Vanessa atalanta) underside view, sips nectar from Goldenrod flowers (Solidago sp.) in September, Rondeau Provincial Park, southwestern Ontario, Canada. The camouflage patterns on its underside help the Red Admiral blend into background of its woodland habitat. As goildenrod pollen is too sticky and heavy to be dispersed on the wind, the plant relies for pollination on the numerous insects who feast on its pollen and/or nector.
